Dr. Roger Anderson and his team make use of panoramic X-rays to closely examine your entire jaw and get a better understanding of your overall oral health and function. Panoramic imaging produces high-definition pictures that allow us to more accurately diagnose problems and provide you with more effective treatments to meet your needs.

Standard “bitewing” X-rays capture pictures of your teeth and supporting bone structure. While these images are excellent for diagnosing tooth decay and other problems in those areas, sometimes a more comprehensive view is necessary for Dr. Roger Anderson to make a diagnosis or provide treatment. If this is the case, Dr. Roger Anderson will use a panoramic X-ray to capture a more complete view of your mouth and jaw. Panoramic X-rays allow us to view your full upper and lower dental arches, including all of your teeth, your upper and lower jawbones, and the surrounding facial structures.

Using this more complete view of your jaws, Dr. Roger Anderson can:

  • Assess the need for orthodontic treatment

  • Evaluate the progress of your treatment

  • Analyze the development of periodontal disease

  • Evaluate the jaw joint to diagnose a TMJ disorder

  • Detect oral cancer

  • Plan an implant placement procedure

  • Evaluate the extent of dental or facial trauma

  • Detect cysts, abscesses and tumors

  • Diagnose tooth decay and other dental problems

Panoramic X-ray machines are fast and comfortable. When we take a panoramic X-ray, you will stand in place and the machine will rotate around your head. The captured images will then be projected onto a nearby screen so that Dr. Roger Anderson can evaluate your oral health.
